Texas APRN Renewal Requirements

I have been asked to post the new changes by BON for license renewal; Here is the list that I go by:

20 contact hours in your area of practice |
|
|
2 hours related to older adult or geriatric population (every licensing period) |
|
|
2 hours related to nursing jurisprudence & ethics (every 3rd licensing period) |
|
|
5 additional hours in pharmacotherapeutics (every licensing period—these hours do not count towards the 20 hours) |
|
|
2 hours annually (4 hours every licensing period) regarding safe & effective pain management related to the prescription of opioids & other controlled substances (every licensing period): · Reasonable standards of care · ID of drug-seeking behavior · Effective communication with patients regarding the prescription of opioids or other controlled substances |

|
1 hour annually related to opioids (2 hours every licensing period) to meet requirements of TX Pharmacy Board (every licensing period): · Best practices · Alternative treatment options · Multi-modal approaches to pain management that may include PT, psychotherapy or other treatments |
|
|
2 hours related to TX Prescription Monitoring Program & approved procedures of prescribing & monitoring controlled substances (due 09/1/2021)
